The traditional steps of a manicure would start with a soak in a bowl for a few minutes, then cuticle softener applied to ease the cuticle work, an optional scrub with a specific purpose depending on the ingredients creates a spa manicure, a mask is also an add on, a massage with lotion or oil can be customised to the client’s needs and a finish with a cream or foam and cuticle oil depending on the dryness of the hands and nails. A paraffin is an add on that encourages deeper penetration of product and a relaxing, warm therapeutic treatment for tired, dry, achy hands. Nail strengtheners can be cream based or applied as a nail hardener. You can retail options to your customer for home care along with cuticle oil. You can use the vegan mini polish as a gift with service. Most polish application involves base coat, color, top coat and the quick dry to speed up drying process. When doing paraffin in a manicure make sure to massage first then apply paraffin, wrap and sit for 10 minutes. Paraffin must be put into dish or bag or brushed on. There is no double dipping in a paraffin pot for hygiene purposes. You can place 1lb in a clean pot for each client and then empty and clean. Charge accordingly to cover cost of paraffin and let the client choose flavor. You can customise your massage with the unscented lotion and essential oils. The Mykosept oil or spray can be used for treating onychomycosis in the service and for home care. The Mykosept Plus can be used as a base/top coat for those nails also. Mykosept has a mykotic agent in the line that is recommended when dealing with onychomycosis.

A gel polish manicure can be different in the order to ensure the nail plate is dry and free of oils. Often we perform a dry manicure using wipes and relying on the proper products to soften cuticles. The gel polish is done before the massage and moisturisers are applied to ensure a good seal. LCN pure gel polish - Recolution has a 2in1 base and gloss and color is applied in 2 thin coats with a 2 minute UV cure and 60 second LED cure. AKzentz Luxio is also a pure gel polish with a base and a separate gloss. This gel polish is also 2 thin coats with a 2 minute UV cure and 30 second LED cure. To remove gel polish you can scuff surface, apply soak off solution, wrap with foils and allow to soak 5 minutes per layer (20 minutes), then peel off easily. Otherwise you must e-file gel polish off with a ceramic bit to save time and remove safely. When a client peels off the gel polish they are taking layers of their nail each time causing damage. It is better to teach them to remove safely at home by retailing or giving them a small sample of soak off, the file and birch wood stick from service in a bag. That way their nails do not get damaged and they save the removal cost. Charge for your time. The all purpose wipe works great for a dry manicure as it is large, hygienic, cleans and durable to use for the complete service. 1 per client. We run a complete nail program.
